Juba – President Salva Kiir Mayardit set out on a working visit to South Africa today, where he is scheduled to hold crucial discussions with President Cyril Ramaphosa. The bilateral meeting aims to address the progress of the Nairobi Tumaini peace Initiative, a pivotal step towards achieving lasting peace and stability in South Sudan.

Press Secretary Lily Adhieu Martin emphasized the historical ties between South Africa and South Sudan, rooted in their shared struggle for liberation. South Africa’s key role as a member of the C5, a group of guarantors overseeing the South Sudanese peace agreement, adds significance to the collaborative efforts between the two nations.

The anticipated talks between President Kiir and President Ramaphosa are poised to center on enhancing peace-building initiatives in South Sudan and fortifying the bilateral relations between the countries.
